Yoga studio · Rincón, Puerto Rico
A small independent studio on a covered deck in Barrio Puntas. Slow flow, vinyasa, yin with sound, and a sunrise class you can hear the cove from.
Classes
Long holds, careful transitions, a lot of breath. Where every first-timer starts and where most people keep coming back.
60 minall levelsMovement linked to breath and built up over the hour. Warm by the end. Some experience helps, none is required.
60 minmovingFloor shapes held for minutes at a time, in the shala with the louvers open, with bowls played through the last twenty.
75 minquietThe sunrise class runs on the deck every morning at seven, eight on weekends. It is a slow flow with the light coming up over the water, and it is the one to book ahead.

This week
Swipe sideways on a phone. Sunrise is capped at twelve, so text ahead for that one; everything else takes walk-ins until the mats run out.

Teachers
Opened the studio on the deck of the house she grew up in. Teaches the slow classes and plays the bowls. Her instruction is quiet and specific, and she will adjust a shape to your body rather than the other way round.
Teaches the moving classes and most of the sunrises. Counts breath out loud, keeps the sequence the same for a month at a time so you can feel yourself change inside it, and surfs after.
Your first visit
Slow flow if you are new or tired. Vinyasa if you want to move. Yin if you want to lie down in the dark and listen.
Only the sunrise class needs a reservation. For everything else a text means we know your name when you walk up the steps.
Park on the road, follow the stone path through the ferns, leave your shoes at the deck. Mats and props are ours.
Nobody leaves fast. There is water, a bench in the garden and, most mornings, coffee.
In their words
I came for one sunrise class on holiday and rearranged the rest of the week around it.
Twelve mats means the teacher actually sees you. I have never been corrected so gently.
The yin class with the bowls is the only hour of my week where I am not thinking about anything.
Passes
Every class, every day, for the calendar month. For people who live here.
Go monthlyPrivate sessions and small groups on the deck are arranged by message. Residents of Rincón get the monthly pass at $120; just say so.
Questions
For the sunrise class, yes, since the deck holds twelve mats. Every other class takes walk-ins until it is full. Call or text and we will hold you a spot.
Slow flow. It is taught to the room, so a first-timer and someone with ten years of practice can share the same class. Say hello to the teacher when you arrive and tell them it is your first.
Yes. Mats, blocks, straps and blankets are in the shala and included in every class. Bring water and something warm for yin.
The deck is covered, so light rain changes nothing but the sound. In a real storm the class moves into the shala, which holds the same twelve mats.
Teenagers are welcome in any class with a parent. For younger children, ask about the family practice we run on the first Sunday of the month.
Visit
Text your name and the morning you want. We will hold a mat and tell you where to park.
